This extension to The Green is a modular timber frame building that will be craned to site almost complete. Just the external finishes left to do.
Designing in Anglesey and North Wales, a lot of our projects are in Areas of Outstanding Beauty and Conservation Areas and some buildings are Listed. Over the past few weeks Jonathan caught up on the latest legislation on the excellent RIBA Conservative course.
MODERN METHODS OF CONSTRUCTION
Wood Knowledge Wales organised a tour of Lowfield and PYC factories. It was great to better understand their processes and how they deliver housing projects.
Tan Y Mynydd, Conwy, is a boutique manufacturing factory for well-being products. We have added additional structure to the existing building and extended the footprint to include an office, staff facilities and conference room.
Construction is progressing well at Penlon. The views from this house are stunning.
You may not know... but all construction projects requiring more than one contractor must appoint a Principal Designer. A Principal Designer risk assesses the health and safety of everyone affected by the construction of a new building project, typically until the Principal Contractor takes on the project. Jonathan recently completed the RIBA training course and can to offer this service to all our clients.
ENGINEERED TIMBER I-JOISTS ROOF CONSTRUCTION
The roof structure is now being installed at our new build house Nyth Pren. The house will soon be water-tight in time for the coming winter months.

ROOF TERRACE SINGLE STOREY EXTENSION
We are currently doing technical drawings for Building Regulations for this single storey extension. The building is angled towards the evening sun. The terrace roof is the perfect place to chill at the end of a long day.
FRONDEG UCHAF HOUSE EXTENSION & RENOVATION NEARS COMPLETION
The extension and renovation at house Frondeg Uchaf in Llanberis is a few weeks from completion. The juxtaposition of the old cold stonework and the new warm timber is stunning.
CONSTRUCTION AT TY DU
The external envelope is almost complete at Ty Du for the new extension. We love the little black steel link that defines the meeting of the old and new house.
It was fab to have my son visit us at the end of a working day for a surf in the sea.

SOCIAL MOBILITY FOUNDATION
We are excited to be mentors with the Social Mobility Foundation, which gives sixth form students from disadvantaged backgrounds the opportunity to connect with businesses as they prepare for University.

A new swimming pool, attached to Hammerhill grand country house, overlooking the Clee & Welsh hills. The pool is clad in Corten-Steel, a material to compliment the existing sandstone house, that weathers over time and creates a beautiful patina.
Single storey extension to Fir Trees house uses locally sourced larch cladding. We have created a new garden room and dining room, complete with space for a grand piano. We are now preparing drawings for Building Regulations.
FUN or ESSENTIAL?
Running a small business can be all consuming ... in both a great and challenging way. We started swimming on Friday after work because we love it. During lockdown we were unable to get out and we both noticed it was harder to switch off at the weekend and be present with family and friends. Now we realise it is both fun AND essential to our wellbeing. I wonder what strategies other people use ....

After the last site visit of the day, it would be rude not to make the most of the lake at Llanberis.
After a successful pre-app for this pool house in a greenbelt area in Shropshire, we are looking forward to developing our concept sketch into a full design with our client.

We're starting building regulation drawings for Seintwar new build house. The order for Scotframe timber frame modular system has been placed and we are expecting delivery in April.

It's an exciting day at the office, as we celebrate transitioning from a design company to an architect practice. It is a higher level of accreditation, which is great for us and for our clients.

Stanton renovation is well on the way. A full fit-out, external works and a new link between the buildings. This holiday let is going to be stunning, with the Menai Straits right at the bottom of the path.
BEAUPAVILION DINING PODS
Beaupavilions are our response to the Covid-19 pandemic. We are looking to develop an idea for outdoor sheltered dining to support existing hospitality businesses, as well as generate new small businesses in Anglesey.
